WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUTS?

* Kickboxing--the punching and kicking distract me from the fact that I'm actually working out...really hard!
* A brisk walk with a good friend--you get a physical and relational workout all at the same time!
* If you're one who can laugh at yourself and you've never taken a step class, grab a friend and get ready for a good chuckle!

KIDS AND VEGGIES

How in the world do you get your kids to eat vegetables?  Great question!  Here are some suggestions that you've sent in:

*The cookbook "Deceptively Delicious" is brilliant! The idea is to puree veggies, freeze them, and add to almost everything you cook for kids throughout the week.  The recipes are delicious and my kids had no idea what they were really eating. The idea is so easily adaptable - I have easily incorporated this method into my everyday recipes as well.  The idea is that kids will get used to the flavor of veggies secretly and as they get older, healthy food choices will come naturally.

*I give my kids a hearty snack after school (around 3pm).  If they get hungry again before dinner, they are allowed to eat all the veggies they want. I often set out a plate of raw veggies @ 4:30pm. They will either choose to have a handful or wait for dinner (in which case they eat more veggies because they are hungrier).  Either way, it's a win!

*Start them on veggies early that they don't know any better.

MORE TIPS FOR PHYSICAL HEALTH

*Protein, protein, protein!  Most women do not get enough.  Eat protein with every meal.  For kids, they should have a protein every time they eat, even snacks.  This helps stabilize blood sugar which affects mood and behavior.  Nuts, string cheese, peanut butterr pretzels, yogurt or 1/2 of a PB&J are all favorites at our house.
